"try pinning or rolling your hair back for a while". I really wish we'd been shown some examples of this because I hardly ever see anything for protective styling for the super short hair girlies. I used to think my hair would never grow again 2 years after a buzzcut because it was just not retaining length despite silk everything. Put my hair in some braids on a whim and viola, grew so much length in that two months, it was shocking. It's crazy how under-reccommended protective styling is when it comes to super short hair. I would have never seen growth if not for a braider who knew how to grip my baby-length strands. At the same time, I can't continuously handle the tension of braids so I'm on a journey to find other less intense protective styles for super short hair growth. Just wish there were more resources about it out there.
Eta: it occurs to me that I should be the change I want to see in the world so if any super short hair girlies looking for growth see this comment, look up "sewing short hair with yarn" here on yt. You'd be surprised how short the hair you can do it on can be. I literally sewed my nephews hair 2 weeks post buzz cut just to test it out and it can be done with no tension
