Well the movie did show that the door couldn't have supported both Rose and Jack. But one solution is, if for a certain interval of time, Rose could've been on the top, then she would come down in the water, and then Jack could've climbed on top and stayed there for a while. By repeating this process again and again, neither of them would become too cold to just die, and both of them could've lived

In the door scene, it shows Rose getting on the door, and then Jack, but both of them getting dumped off, therefore Jack let Rose on the door, and he swam to the side of the door.
