I thought I would touch real quick on some trucker fueling etiquette points. We are all a trucking family out here. Let’s be mindful and respectful of each other’s time and space. Most of us are out here getting paid by the mile so we all know time equals money.
When you pull up to that fuel island be ready to do your thing. Have your info ready, have everything okayed with your dispatcher and all the things you need to do. Then start cleaning your truck AFTER you have the fuel started not before.
And most importantly, unless you are in some little bitty mom and pop truckstop in the middle of nowhere with no one around… pull up to the waiting area or pull up to a parking spot. Preferably if there is parking spots pull up there, but if there isn’t and there is a busy truckstop, pull up away from the pumps. We all know that next space that’s available. Then go in and get your food and get your stuff. Don’t go in and sit down and eat or take a shower and leave your truck at the fuel island.
we have all been victims of that one idiot that thinks his time is more valuable than anyone else’s and decides to that he has time to go in there and take a 15 minute shower while his truck is at the fuel island. Those 15 minute showers always turn into 45 minute ones and then everyone’s left there fuming.
One thing I love about trucking is we are a family. Most of us will help each other out. We will do anything for the other man. So let’s do the same at the fuel Island.
