I can't wait to see it restored. When I was married 1975 my mother gave me a cast iron skillet that she said had belonged to my great grand mother on her father's side. My great-grandmother's father was an Irish immigrant and my mother told me that he fought and died in the Civil War. That cast iron swill be 199 years old this year. Of all my cast iron wear I treasure that 1 the most.

That is very cool. I can see that hanging on a wire over the chuck wagon fire and the cook making stew. I have a few iron pans a 2 of them have that ring for the wood stove.

Sheesh!! Can’t wait till you’re done with it. Think about what the world looked like when that thing was brand new. Also what form of payment to buy it. Greenbacks and paper notes were just coming around in the 1860s. Wild.
