Anyone who says a local butcher shop is cheaper has absolutely no idea what they are talking about.

Being from the restaurant industry, you have to get in good with a butcher. They will give you better deals in the long run, for much better quality meat. Like night and day difference

Go to a farmer and buy it from a farmer. Farmer takes it to the butcher. All you pay butcher for is killing and packing it. I buy quarter beef from a farmer for $3.33 a lb for everything. Steaks burger roasts. That is for beef and packing

Butchers are more expensive but it’s not for no reason they have much higher quality meats than you can find at 99% of grocery stores

my rancher isn't cheaper but I can go out and see how the beeves are treated and I know it's all grass finished so for me it's worth it. plus decentralizing our food supply system is good for everyone except factory food producers

Cheapest place I have found is a packing company. Meat was sold by the case per cut. They were running a special. We stocked up our freezer with $2.22 per lb boneless sirloin. Yes, we're cutting the steaks ourselves, I know we will not find it cheaper, ever. This was a Labor Day sale the packing company was running.

There’s an amazing butcher near me that’s about 20% cheaper than regular stores. I stock up monthly

well I thinks its quality.. I personally don't want to eat meat from feed lots, and I would rather support a local farmer or butcher vs a big box business... but that's just my choice.. also carnivore for 2 yrs...
Def cheaper to buy a whole cow and share the cost with family,.. When we support our local farmers we are contributing to local food which is better overall...

If you want factory made beef buy at Costco. If you want pasture raised beef see your butcher or better yet, see your local farmer.

Aww that's so unfortunate 😢 our butcher has boxes of meat that are $6/lb on average for a variety of cuts of aged beef. Their ribeye is $19/lb but the quality is fantastic

If you know local farmers it’s cheapest to buy a portion of a cow or pig directly from them last time we averaged $3.29 lb after butcher fees that includes all sorts of roasts steaks and filets you can also pick your own cuts of meat on the cut sheet if you want some more weird stuff like oxtail or cow tongue

We buy half a cow once a year and pay $3.69/lb including processing into food saver bags. This also gives us the soup bones to make bone broth and the tallow. The organ meat gets made into dog jerky
