Yes, exactly. Also, what makes anyone think that the crown of each fret is perfectly placed? We level and crown our frets, but the tuning of each fret is taken for granted. But in fact it is very 'hit and miss'

These days I use a tuner. Back in my student days when tuners were expensive and only really for professionals, I used to tune my guitar to the bassline of Talking Heads 'Psycho Killer'. As a wannabe bass player I knew Tina Weymouth's first note was an A, so used that for the A string (obviously) and tuned the rest of the strings from there.

I hate picking up guitars off the wall at guitar shops they are never in tune and tune finicky.

True fact; Even with TT frets, you're STILL never truly in tune because the modern "equal temperament" scale we use is in itself not in tune for the same reason a guitar with straight frets would never be in tune even if it wasn't using the modern scale. It allows one instrument to play songs in various keys, but as a result, they're all minutely out of tune.

One little thing I can, if I may, pass on is if playing in a band, all use the same tuner. Wot? If the batteries are running down on your tuner, it will say in tune, but not with the others

Sounds like a great topic for a long-form video. Borrow a true temper and compare it with a standard guitar so your subs can hear the difference to see if it really matters that much. Hope your finger is all healed up and you can get back to rocking (slightly out of tune anyway ๐ ) God bless bro ๐ธ๐

Has anyone ever had a guitar that just refuses to get in tune. It is a compromise but certain guitars can be a real bitch. I had a high end acoustic of a famous maker but sold it on as it just wouldn't tune.

THIS is why I spend 20 minutes trying to tune my guitar perfectly with a tuner.

Some people are so picky about their intonation that they forget to focus on their actual playing. Sigh.
