These days I use a tuner. Back in my student days when tuners were expensive and only really for professionals, I used to tune my guitar to the bassline of Talking Heads 'Psycho Killer'. As a wannabe bass player I knew Tina Weymouth's first note was an A, so used that for the A string (obviously) and tuned the rest of the strings from there.

True fact; Even with TT frets, you're STILL never truly in tune because the modern "equal temperament" scale we use is in itself not in tune for the same reason a guitar with straight frets would never be in tune even if it wasn't using the modern scale. It allows one instrument to play songs in various keys, but as a result, they're all minutely out of tune.

Sounds like a great topic for a long-form video. Borrow a true temper and compare it with a standard guitar so your subs can hear the difference to see if it really matters that much. Hope your finger is all healed up and you can get back to rocking (slightly out of tune anyway ๐ ) God bless bro ๐ธ๐
