In this short episode, Tony Lesesne celebrates MLK week by asking which high-powered hip-hop artists would Dr. King most likely vibe with.
It's an interesting and speculative question to consider how Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. might have related to contemporary hip-hop artists like Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, and J. Cole. While we can't know for certain, we can explore some aspects of each artist's work and persona that might resonate with Dr. King's values.
Kanye West:
Dr. King might appreciate Kanye West's outspokenness and willingness to challenge societal norms. Kanye often addresses social and political issues in his music, and his activism might align with Dr. King's commitment to justice. However, Dr. King might also be critical of some of Kanye's controversial statements and actions.
Kendrick Lamar:
Kendrick Lamar is known for his thought-provoking lyrics that tackle issues such as racial inequality, poverty, and systemic injustice. Dr. King, who was a prominent figure in the Civil Rights Movement, might appreciate Kendrick's socially conscious themes and storytelling. Kendrick's emphasis on self-reflection and community empowerment could align with Dr. King's philosophy.
J. Cole:
J. Cole often addresses personal struggles, social issues, and the African American experience in his music. Dr. King, who advocated for equality and justice, might find resonance in J. Cole's lyrics that touch on systemic challenges and individual growth. J. Cole's emphasis on education and self-improvement could align with Dr. King's commitment to progress.
While Dr. King enjoyed music and socializing with celebrities, it's important to note that he was a complex individual with a deep commitment to justice and equality. His appreciation for these artists would likely depend on how well their values and messages align with his own vision for a just and equitable society. With that in mind - find out who we thnk he would select to vibe with.

I agree, not Kanye. But J.Cole is a great pick, and Kendrick would not be too far off, in my opinion.
