I personally think this is such a great way to keep people engaged with each other without being sucked in and being insecure the numbers are a big factor in that and what I have learned it that if you have over 30+ people added it will not tell you how many friends you actually have besides 30+ other than that you really can’t see other peoples followings

This won't go anywhere for the same reason Beme didn't go anywhere. Network effect is crucial for social media platforms to thrive on - and it doesn't have any. And even if it did, there needs to be enough reason for people to come back on the app - which BeReal doesn't have either (and neither did Clubhouse and look where they are).
We can hate on Instagram and TikTok and Facebook but truth is, the relationship is a two way thing. They are successful because they gave us what we want - not necessarily what we need.
