How to Spend a Weekend Near Zurich: A Guide with Timelines

📆 Saturday
Start early and take a train to Einsiedeln:

❕Sit on the left side of the direction of a train for a lake view.

🏨 Check in at the charming St. Georg Hotel, conveniently located in the city center.

10:30 — 🐮 Join a public tour at the Einsiedeln Milkfactory @milchmanufaktureinsiedeln
. Learn about the production process, and of course, taste their delicious products.

12:30 — Enjoy lunch at 📍 Wen-Wa-Kei Asian restaurant, followed by a coffee at 📍 Kaffeehaus zu den Dreiherzen.

14:00 — Join a public tour of Einsiedeln Abbey. Explore the rich history of this landmark, visit the famous library, and take in the beauty of the abbey.

16:00 — Take a leisurely stroll around the town, visit scenic viewpoints, and don’t miss the chance to watch the sunset from the abbey. It’s truly magical!

19:00 — Have dinner at 📍 Restaurant Bären Einsiedeln. Be sure to try their specialty — the fallow deer burger.

📆 Sunday
7:00 — Grab a hot drink at 📍 Restaurant Bären Einsiedeln, and hike to the viewpoint at 📍 Vogelherd to catch the sunrise (if the weather is on your side! 😄).

8:00 — Return to the hotel for a locally-sourced breakfast.

10:45 — Check out and take a direct train to Rapperswil @rapperswilzuerichsee

11:30 — Stroll through the town, head up to the castle, visit the beautiful rose gardens, and grab one of the best coffees I’ve had in Switzerland at 📍Genuss-Schmiede.

13:45 — Take a boat ride back to Zurich. You can hop off at any stop along the way to explore the lakeside area further.
❕The boat is part of the public transport system, so you can use your day pass or GA.
