The point of the plot in this episode is to show how Blitz didn't really take the threat seriously because he didn't realise that Stolas could be harmed like that. And that he felt bad about not going there to save Stolas himself (even if it wouldn't have made a difference) and then not going to the hospital because of his own self-hatred and how it parallels the situation with Fizzarolli (at least in his own mind) and how he didn't helped him and afterwards wasn't welcome at the hospital.
