YES! I’m not even autistic and I do that, you have no right to give away her food when you knew she was coming back!

Yes, when one assumes ...... That was def an AH move on OP's part. She should have asked. Period.

As someone with ASD, it's not uncommon that some mentions their diagnosis. Also, it's common that some eat in "special" ways. For many meals, I'll eat one thing at a time. Say meatballs and mashed potatoes. I don't mix those when I eat. OP is the AH

I do that all the time? Why would you give away anyone’s food without asking? And I know that I get really mad when someone takes my food when I still want to eat it

Yk if OP went to the bathroom with one of her kids and I took her food and ate half and defended myself with “you can have the other half I didn’t eat yet” I doubt OP would be impressed. OP doesn’t know what germs I have, if I got sick recently if I brushed my teeth anything, because I’d be basically a stranger. Also it wasn’t mentioned in this part but being defensive when a child who doesn’t know your toddler doesn’t want to eat the same food a child’s saliva has touched isn’t being sensitive, it’s not wanting grotty child saliva on your food. Kids get sick all the time, they can be pretty gross sometimes, a parent is one thing, since they would have a fairly similar immune system and stuff but a stranger eating food another kid has touched with their saliva is pretty normal thing to be grossed out by. OP is an idiot and using the child’s autism to wave away the pretty normal reaction to the situation.

As an autistic person, the answer to this is YES! YTA. However, I know plenty of people who are not autistic and would be upset by this.
