Been reffing youth athletics for 5 years. Parents/coaches are horrendous in2024. Iām glad your experiences have been better but donāt expect any respect in the officiating industry.

Iāve been umpiring baseball for 24 years now. I started when I was 17. I believe in the past 10 years each year it gets worse and worse. Between the coaches, players then put the parents on top itās bad. I donāt know for your area if the level of skill has gone down also. Iāve had more coaches question me and the other umpires I work with that think they know the rules and they donāt, then it trickles down to the players. I can go on all day about this topic but Iāve said my peace hopefully someone knows what Iām saying lol

Started umpire this year (im17) and from some of the vet umpires I talked to they said itās never been worse almost every game.

I just started umpiring and I got threatened to get beat up on my first game and Iām a jr umpire

Lookā¦if a parent gives you a hard time as an umpire, all you have to say is, āThatās enough of that, pleaseā¦do I get to come to your place of employment at McDonaldās and complain about how you sweep the floors?ā

I have been umpring for 2 years I have gotten yelled at with racial slurs and getting flip off by grandparents

Stick with High School and above. The youth level is horrible. Not so much with parents but poor coaching. Coaches who are there to win and not coach. Looking for umpires to win games for them. I got fed up with poor play because of poor coaching.

The more you umpire the better you get.

Personally, I think soccer parents are way worse.
