Omg, I'm 75 and Tangee was indeed my first lipstick! Had not even thought about it for years. This right along with Evening in Paris and Blue Carnation perfumes. Love it!

i remember finding blue lipstick in my grandma's makeup drawer when i was little and i thought it was so cool because it was blue and i wanted blue lips. you can imagine the disappointment when i put it on and it was a bright ass red color, and then the panic when i couldn't get it to come off in the slightest. 😅

It was my first lipstick in 1956. It was so hard to remove. You had to use cleansing cream and then wash your lips with soap on a washcloth. Great for exfoliation.

I LOVE this stuff!! There was an elderly lady on my block who wore this, and sweet honesty perfume... and Lancome powder from a blue enamel box with a REAL old fashioned puff... and she smelled dusty and waxy and sweet and would let me try on the Tangee, and she said that I had "The right complexion for it" ...

This was the first lipstick my great grandmother was allowed to wear as a young girl. She's been having a hard time with her memory so I got her a tube of it and it reminded her of the story I'd heard all these years. Warms my heart to see it being talked about 🥰🥰

În Romania, we have a green version of this kind of lipstick. It is Green, and after applying, it turns pinkish. Super resistant and fun!

Lol my aunt always talked about Tangee. I guess that was okay for a teen girl to wear and lipstick wasn't. This would have been in the 60s, but she still joked about it when I was a teenager.

my grandma saw me watching this and immediately said, "aww, thats the lipstick that got me my husband!" and my grandpa was just like "nah, dear, it was the legs." 💀

"Excellent for the cheeks." I have an eye crayon that I can use everywhere on my face. I do wish they'd make more makeup like that.

On the lip chart thingy, "its coarsening and men don't like it" oh, how beauty standards never change

“Painted- Don’t risk that painted look. It’s coarsening and men don’t like it.” Oh lord no, the men won’t like it! We absolutely mustn’t risk that!

I think it's WAY more flattering than the fuchsia pink that pretty much all the colour changing products turn into though!!

My grandmother just gave me one of her sticks of Tangee last summer. She's been wearing it since highschool and is 92 now. It's so beautiful. I remember as a kid loving the color of her lips.

my beautiful mother, who is in her 60s, had an iconic yellow/orange color lipstick she wore often that would turn into a soft pink on the lips. In highschool that was the lipstick I wore, copying her. Its so interesting how these things have been around much longer then we realize!

In Morocco we have this lipstick called laaker lfasi which literary means the fasi (referring to the town Fes) lipstick. It is green but it becomes super red once used and can't be removed easily.
