Seems as it's World Baking Day, we're taking it back to basics with a marble cake. Get mixing with the easy recipe below.
Serves 10-12
PREP 15 mins
COOK 45 mins

200g golden caster sugar
200g softened butter
4 eggs
200g plain flour
½ tsp baking powder
2 tbsp milk
11/2 tbsp cocoa
1 tsp vanilla extract
100g milk chocolate, finely chopped
50g white chocolate, finely chopped
75ml double cream
1 Heat the oven to 180C/fan 160C/gas 4. Line a 15x20cm traybake tin with paper. Beat the sugar and butter together, then whisk in the eggs one at a time. Fold in the flour, baking powder, and milk. Divide the batter between three bowls. Stir 1 tbsp cocoa into one bowl, ½ tbsp cocoa into another, and the vanilla extract into the third. Dollop into the prepared tin, and swirl together. Bake for 45 mins until golden and risen. Leave to cool.
2 Heat the cream in a small pan or microwave. Put the chocolates into two separate bowls, pour 2/3s of the cream over the milk chocolate, and the rest over the white chocolate. Leave to stand for 5 mins to melt. Stir well into a smooth, shiny ganache. Pour the milk chocolate ganache over the cake, then spoon over the white. Marble these together with a skewer. Leave to set for 10 mins before slicing and serving.
