So the heart was visibly (by the naked eye) pumping but they couldnt figure that out before? Appalling. Thats why i, like probably many, have taken ourselves off the donor list.

They tried to get me to donate my son's organs after a motorcycle accident. The whole time he was in a certain hospital I was badgered by a certain doctor while he was still alive. I kept refusing, and he is still alive today. He was in a coma for a month and a half, lost his left arm at the shoulder, as well as his spleen. But he's alive, and still has all his marbles and just graduated from a precision machining program with a 4.0 average. Since this happened he, myself and the rest of our family have removed ourselves from the organ donors lists. I feel they did not look upon him as a patient, but a potential organ source, and still detest the doctor who callously badgered me EVERY SINGLE DAY. That was in 2017, and he's still gloriously alive.

THIS is why I removed myself from the organ donation list through the DMV many years ago. The organ market is far too lucrative to trust an MD to make the right decision at end of life. Hearts are only useable if they are removed from a living patient. The incentive to declare a critical patient dead prematurely is HUGE!

Chattanooga tried to take my father's organs. They wouldn't take no for an answer. I see my dead father swollen from brain trauma. Brain dead. They insisted on multiple consultations with the intent of convincing me to allow them to harvest. It's disgusting. They want your organs and make an ungodly amount of money. All with very little concern for the family.

I know of a young man who was crushed by a car and the ambulance never helped revive him because he was an organ donor

In many cases persons are paralyzed so they can do the organ removal. No pain mediating drugs are given. They flail in terror to stop the event. It's frightening. I'd never be an organ donor. No one is told of these scenarios. 😢

Why does this not surprise me at all. Oddly just last week I had to renew my driver's license and when I got to the part about organ donation something made me stop and change it from donor to non-donor. Glad I did now.

When I was 16, I had opted into being an organ donor as I heard the story of a man I admired and how his live was saved and extended because of a donor. But after finding out more about this repeatedly, I decided a year later to opt out of being a donor. Unfortunate, but this is the way it is for now.
