They probably placed the order on Cyber Monday, got 40% off and free shipping.

damn, are they single handedly trying to save Boeing or something?

I guess that's going to be the end of United's 757 fleet.

Probably no corruption, revolving doors or back room deals involved at all.

It seems that United is very confidence with that huge aircraft order and most likely to replace the aging 767s and presumably the aging 777-200 as well.

Given how old their 777 and 767 fleets are.

The 787 is really needed.

Some things to keep in mind, deliveries are going to take place over 8 years, and are to replace older older 767 and 777s, of which they have 128 aircraft ranging from 20-30years old. United probably getting a sweet deal, and will likely never take delivery of the A350s

It is CEO Scott Kirby’s ambition for United to eventually become the largest airline in the world.

Sad to see 767 and A330s starting to fade away. Best aircraft for economy seating imo.

Pfff. They should buy more Airbus A350s.

You should do a video on how orders are placed with firm and options and the process of how the orders end up being converted to other aircraft types. Aircraft orders are basically just a commitment that the airline will buy some aircraft from the manufacturer at some point.

id love some context for the size of that order.. Like whats the biggest plane order ever placed? How much was the last real big one?

I don't know what that number means in this context.

Orders are sparkling news. But looking at history, what aircraft orders produced the largest total deliveries ? As in planes being operational with the airline.

I do not trust Boeing anymore.

This makes sense from a maintenance aspect because it's a phase-out older aircraft they can have a tighter maintenance department with less overlap in different types and also allows them to stay ahead of Aviation Trends if things get bad the contract I'm sure has Provisions for cutting or at least slowing down for delivery and if trends go up they stay ahead of the Curve

And they get the thumb their noses at United and Delta
