すでにこのレベルだとフィリピン人に発音を聞くとフィリピン訛りの発音で覚えてしまうので駅前留学とかでカナダやイギリス、アメリカなどのネイティブにならった方が逆に良さそうですが...
あと個人的な意見ですが、フィリピン人はフィリピン人独特の単語の使い方や欧米圏とは少し違った解釈や場面で使用している場合もあるので要注意です。
経験上、履歴書の書き方とかビジネス方面は特にフィリピン人にならうとかなり高圧的な書き方や言い回しになったりすることもあるので注意です。

Perhaps it is localised english used in Philippines? As language can change such as singapore english as well. However, if you want more conventional English, you were absolutely correct with the THR sound. The pronunciation of courageous is also different to the teachers suggestion. Meticulous could be used without preposition or with about as you mentioned. Another potential is meticulous in. I have not heard if meticulous on.
Without preposition it could be like
He described the scene in meticulous detail.
She is meticulous in her research.
