Ingredients:
Urad dal - 1 cup
Raw rice - 1 tbsp
Ginger & green chilly paste - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Cilantro - handful
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Salt - as needed
Oil - for frying
Method:
Wash and soak urad dal and raw rice for 1 hrs. Grind it into a smooth consistency (don't use too much water). You can freeze the batter and defrost before using it.
When making vadas, take the desired quantity in a bowl. Add ginger & green chilly paste, curry leaves, cilantro, asafoetida & salt. Mix well.
Take a bowl with water for dipping your fingers while making vadas. Take a plastic sheet, appy some water. Take some batter and plce it on the sheet. Pat it and make a hole in the center.
drop this into hot oil. Flip them once the side is cooked. Fry them until they are crispy in both sides.
Serve with some chutney and sambhar!
