I remember being awed by the Excalibur armor when the movie came out in 1981. In the first act with Gabriel Byrne who was epic as Uther Pendragon the armor is dark and dull, but still good. Once Arthur is king the armor is gleaming shiny and polished

A movie like Excalibur is problematic when it comes to armor and authenticity. The story might have happened around the 5th century migration period, the novels are written centuries later and they are reflecting a medieval society from the centuries before, they are more like fantasy.
So what armor, clothing and fashion would be right?
