Bucket is for new catchers that turn away from the ball. Regular is for experienced catchers who don't turn away from the ball because bucket has protection on the sides and regular doesn't.

Bro, you said it yourselfā¦if product x offers āmore protectionā than product y than product x is safer. The bucket is indeed safer. Now, having said thatā¦once of the great features of the All-Star mask (regular) is the plate in the lower pad which helps to disperse the energy of a blow to the mask. I have tried every mask on the market and I really like the All-Star magnesium masks. I have two and they will likely be the last two masks I ever buy.
