When I worked in retail, some people would come in right before closing with their kids and tell the kids to tear one part of the store up while they packed bags that they had from previous shopping with things to “return without a receipt”. IF we return anything, they’d sell the gift cards on the street for half the value. So if they got a $500 store credit—they’d sell it on the street for $250. All for a little over an hour of stealing. If anyone is wondering why most stores require ID when you return without a receipt, that’s why.
Point is—people used their kids as accomplices alllll the time.
