I remember when I started my aquarium of goldfishes. My mom and dad just threw one into a large container which used to contain animal crackers. It died after it kept out of the container one day when I returned home from school. They were like “hm… maybe it a bit early to tell my child this…”
Two years later when we moved they got a hand-me down fish tank when I was in third grade and my parents just threw fifteen of them into a 25 gallon fish tank! We had a filter that came with it and that was it… TEN DIED IN ONE WEEK! That was when my parents told me: yeah… goldfishes die fast and easily. Don’t expect them to survive so easily… THEN THEY PROCEED TO BUY TWENTY MORE AND TAUGHT ME THAT THIS WAS THE BEAT WAY TO UNSURE I HAVE GOLDFISHES! OMG!😱 ten years later: I learnt the truth about goldfish care requirements (aka fish care in general…)and accidentally stumbled upon two goldfishes from a carnival which we initially played as a joke… a year later, my parents are still stunned I’ve not only provided the kids an ACTUAL tank and supplies but I’ve kept them alive for an entire year looking super healthy! Gee… I wonder why… 😑 (ps never play carnival goldfishes games… my goldfishes caught the ich and we battled against it for three weeks before I managed to boot it out of the tank. During my research I learnt how bad it is to even have a game where goldfishes are the prize)
And now here I am watching more videos cause I’m still in the “I want more pretty fish and tank” period of emotions and is battling against it… cause finance and self control.
