I really appreciate how you’ve given Lila such a fun a developmentally appropriate few years, and you can tell she’s a well balanced kiddo because you can see the way she looks at you with so much joy and has zero concept of what not trusting would be like, because both of you have given her such a sincerely fun, authentically loving, cheerful time, and you’ve obviously framed the expansion of your family in such a way that you see just as much excitement in her as she imagines how she will be as a big sister!
I love to see a kid who is completely enveloped in the love and joy of childhood, who approaches every new thing as a fun adventure because her life and experiences have been framed as so rich and beautiful.
Seeing my peers be parents solidifies my choice to wait longer and do some other things (maybe adopt, very interested in being a foster parent, definitely couldn’t do pregnancy with my disabilities), but it makes me even happier to see people my age being so emotionally and mentally healthy in their parenting practices, being the fun and sincerity back into parenting, and show kids that families are precious opportunities to do so much for each other!
As a not-mom, I’m not an anti-mom, I know it takes a village, which is why I’m SO glad that I did not have a child of my own, so that I’m available to act as aunty to these adorable littles! The village should be full of people who come from all kinds of backgrounds and circumstances, and I love when kids have access to intergenerational living situations, because we know there’s so much better outcomes from homes with a variety of age and generational influence!
I’m not in Singapore, but as the spiritual aunty and proponent of healthy family life and developmentally appropriate, informed parenting: you go, babymoon for 3 soon with a new baby to see!
Keep being the people you are, and thank you for finding ways to negotiate the realities of your work and life in a manner that shares some of your family time with us, but clearly prioritized the well-being of Lila, and now baby 2!
Good luck with labor & delivery and may baby make their way out simply and loudly, so no worry so necessary! Make sure to recruit your helpers while you’re carrying around that watermelon baby 2 is growing, you deserve a little rest!
