Iām a 79 year old great grandmother. I donāt hate snakes but I would never own one. However I did see that video and I was so mad and upset with the brutality and the carelessness that officers had toward those animals. They acted like they made a mistake killing the guys pet snake. How could they make that kind of mistake? Jesus Christ even this old great grandmother knows the difference between a boa and a python because they donāt look the same. I was so mad at the cruelty that those officers did. They are either idiots or they donāt know about snakes and if thats the case they are likely to die on the job because they wouldnāt know the difference between one snake or another thatās very poisonous. But I think they knew exactly what they were doing. They are mean and heartless and did it on purpose to make a big statement showing what will happen to other snake owners if they donāt comply.

Clint, Iām very impressed by your efforts to cover this as responsibly as possible and not giving in to pressure for immediate comment. Reacting to breaking news can be very problematic and Iām glad to see you understand the importance of waiting for all the information to come out. You are a great advocate. Not many people have that kind of restraint, especially when the news is so upsetting. Getting as much information as you can from both sides will always help, and many people are unwilling to do this and will even shame people who do so.

I couldn't even watch the whole video, Clint. It was absolutely horrific. It made me angry, devastated, and then the tears set in. I love all animals because of their innocence. Even spiders! They can't get away with this, Clint. Thank you so much for addressing these issues. Looking forward to the live video tonight, my friend. Thank you for taking the time to take it upon yourself to investigate both sides. I believe it was the right thing to do, and I support you with that decision 100 percent! (On a lighter note, thanks to you we have 5 pictus geckos now. lol They're one of my new favorite species, and I wouldn't have known about them if it wasn't for you. Thank you!) š

As a British snake owner who was unaware of this event, and only learned of it through this channel, I'm so sorry you had to view and analyse this Clint.
Upon hearing of "that event with FWC" I looked it up and immediately regretted it. I'm sorry you watched it; I saw the first title of a news article and "noped" out of there immediately.
Long time viewer, my ball python "Cupcake" says "Hi!"

Thank you for getting to the bottom of this, Clint, especially given how grotesque and horrific and emotionally taxing this situation is. You're doing good work sharing this information with this community and opening up discussion, but please don't forget to look out for yourself and your mental health!

Cats are supper invasive and this would never happen to them, absolutely disgusting, im by no means saying this should happen to cats ever obviously I personally dont think killing invasive species especially ones in captivity is the right way to go no matter the animal, but ffs man the double standards really get to me.
Edit: i am NOT advocating for the killing of invasive or especially non invasive cats but for people to treat reptiles with the same respect they treat mammals (if not more respect for both) and for people to keep their cats indoors or inside a enclosure.

I had the unfortunate experience of viewing the video on New England Reptile channel and this blatant disregard for pets animals and their suffering is highly disturbing to the depths of anyone who has a heart and a soul. it is something you can NEVER UNSEE. I currently have 2 cats and a couple tanks of African Cichlid fish. However, Iām 49 and back when I was 18 I had a pet boa that I got from a breeder as a baby. I named him Milcom, he was a beautiful Surinam + Columbian Red Tail hybrid. He came from a long line of captive born and bred boas with such a sweet dispositions and gentle temperaments. Although they live much longer, my Milcom only lived to be 7 years old as he ended up succumbing to a respiratory infection that did not respond to antibiotics. He was a sweet boy and to this day I can tell you that boas are the MOST DOCILE SNAKES YOU CAN OWN, they are (because they have been bred in captivity for decades) so trusting of their humans and their temperament is so friendly and laid back. This is a factor in why this was SO HEARTBREAKING and GUT-WRENCHING for me to watch. I, like others, had to stop the video 4 minutes in as I was absolutely bawling my face covered with tears in utter shock and sadness for these POOR DOMESTIC SNAKES that TRUSTED people and for their heartbroken owners who raised them 10+ years from when they were tiny babies. Hours later and here I am LITERALLY sick to my stomach about this, it haunts me so horribly. I hope these FWC people get fired and face some jail time for animal cruelty AT A MINIMUM and I also think their owners ought to seek monetary damages for pain and suffering for the loss of their family members. I will be exploring ways I can contribute to their cause and get involved in helping the owners get their justice for this even if I am all the way in Arizona.

I was very angry and disheartened when I first saw the video and heard what had happened. I definitely was among those who cried out for vengeance under the guise of justice. However, as much as I am still upset about how this was handled and am scared for what this could mean for reptile keepers in this country I am very glad you took your time to consider all the details about what happened and come forward with opinions that are balanced and reasonable. Too often are people willing to make bold statements while riding high on emotion, and right now the reptile community is as much in the spotlight as the FWC. We need to show that we can be calm and rational even in the face of horrible tragedy. I truly hope reason and intelligence prevails and nothing like this ever occurs again. Thank you, Clint.
