What does a sinus headache feel like? I'm Dr. Manan Shah, I'm an ENT and allergist with Wyndly Health. A lot of people wonder what a sinus headache is supposed to feel like. Well, first it's important to know, what are the sinuses? So your nose is sort of like a hallway, it helps the air go from the tip of your nose all the way down to your windpipe.

But off of that hallway are rooms called the sinuses, and there's one called the frontal sinus, there's one called the sphenoid sinus, and there's one that's called the cheeks. And there's little doorways between those rooms into your nose. But when these areas get swollen or irritated due to bacterial or viral infections or allergies, you'll feel pressure and pain around those areas.

And it'll feel like a headache, but it's actually more localized to these areas. If you keep having that, you may want to get evaluated to see if you have chronic sinusitis, or you may want to check to see if you have chronic allergies, because irritation in the nasal cavity is going to lead to that sinus headache, pain, and pressure.
