Too much “heat?” I don’t cook artichokes in a pottery kiln, for goodness sake. That’s news to me 😅!
These ‘chokes are too small for one person. Just purchase a fully grown one , trim and put it with H2O in a saucepan. Gently simmer for 35-40 minutes,take out of the pot with tongs (because it’s HOT) let cool for a few then enjoy with melted butter on the side. DELICIOUS 😋

Choke is the bit of the heart that's covered In inedible hair if you get a full grown artichoke it'll have hips but when you're using artichoke hearts in cooking or pickling you don't want the "choke" so to avoid cleaning excessively in large batches they use small chokeless artichoke. He shoulda shown both though.
