I’ll be posting more videos on how to actually find Paw Paw (Asimina triloba). This has been the BEST paw paw season that I have ever experienced.

A great year to look for them if you haven’t found any yet!

Have you ever found or eaten paw paw before?

All the timing information for paw paws is in my Interactive Forager’s Calendar! 📅 (link in my bio

There's a lot of variation between trees too. If the ones from the tree you're at aren't quite so nice, move to a different tree. Two different paw paws from two different trees can have wildly different flavors depending on a ton of factors.

I absolutely love pawpaws! Fortunately, even though I'm rather high up & near no water, I have many productive pawpaw trees on my property. 🤗

Yes! That's what ive been eating all week here on Michigan! No one knows what they are and I'm sharing with friends and family. Got about 20 yesterday. Love climbing the trees over the creek for fruit 💚

My mother picked pawpaws. She grew them and shared her plants with anyone that wanted them.

I've found it (the pawpaw varieties in my area) tastes a lot like a very ripe jackfruit, but has an avocado-like texture

I finally got my hands on some Paw Paw’s this year after years of wanting to try it. The ripe fruit tastes like a mixture of vanilla ice cream and juicy fruit gum, it’s so delicious. The skin is very bitter though. And will linger on your palate for what feels like forever. Lol

Pawpaw is EVERYWHERE. Here in Florida we have at least 5 verities.

DO NOT EAT THE SKIN AND DO NOT EAT IT UNDERRIPE.
As someone who p0is0ned myself and a friend unnecessarily, I don’t think those things are said often enough when this fruit is discussed!!
I’m not allergic and have since had it many times prepared properly (it is super delicious!) but it’s very easy to give yourself food poisoning with this fruit if eaten incorrectly.
“Don’t eat the skin” should absolutely be standard at the top of EVERY pawpaw article and video, and yet when it happened to me I had to go all the way to reddit to find out why. Not cool.

I can tell just by looking at that fruit that it’s pawpaw right off the bat

Along with Elderberry and Currants, Paw Paw has been my #1 forage hyperfixation this year. We've been on the river probably 30 times more than usual this year. Have also found some along trails in parks near rivers!!!

Looks like it would make a nice cider. Its basically disintegrating and asking to be dissolved in water.
