Brief thoughts for this painting 👇
This painting is a little conflicting for me. From one perspective, the father and daughter get to spend quality time performing and making people happy together. But on the other hand they don't seem to have a stable living situation and must hope for good weather and a place to sleep. The other thing I notice is missing from the picture is a mother, unless the woman observing them is the mother, but that doesn't seem to fit with the idea of traveling performers. The name of the painting also paints a picture that their life is difficult and very tiresome. I wish I could know the outcome for these two and if their lives ever get any easier :/

At least this is better than the circus performers that had their little child injured that was most ugly painting of suffering humans. Art imitates life in this case which is illustrating humans at their weakest form ( to bleed )

Why are lifestyles outside the norm immediately considered lesser than or something to be pitied? Maybe they're happy, maybe they chose this. A hard life isn't a worse life. There's nothing like the feeling of having a day of hard work, and then crawling into bed and sleeping like a baby.
