I wish we could take advantage of premium economy more, but so many price the product wrongly.

Premium economy can be up to twice the price of economy, despite the legroom, food and service not being twice better šŸ˜¢

Good short, but I'm not swayed. The premium on PE cabins is too high. I'll stay in the back but pay for lounge access and buy a better hotel at my holiday destination. When you've spent ten hours in the back of a C-130, Economy class is ritzy enough.

Honestly the amenities for these premium economy tickets are the same as what regular economy had around 15-20 years ago. I remember regular economy had things like complimentary toiletries, blankets and pillows, socks, slippers, etc šŸ„²

they shouldn't call it premium economy. they should call it middle class

I just spent 27 hours (round trip) in economy, with British Airways, to Chile. There was a Ā£700 premium on premium economy and Ā£3,800 in business. PE looked nice, but because I didnt have a passenger next to me, despite being 6"5, I enjoyed economy enough (food and all) to make PE redundant for me.

Thatā€™s probably because premium economy is a disadvantage to the customer. Itā€™s overpriced for the services you get.

Just flew to Japan in Delta Premium Select and it made the 10 hour flight both ways soooo much better than in Main Cabin or Comfort+. Going from Premium Select on our long haul to even Comfort+ on our short hop back home was night and day. We made our decision this trip to fly premium economy for both my wife and I as much as we can, given the prices are reasonable. For Japan our tickets were $800 more than main cabin total for both of us. For that $800 we felt like we definitely got our moneys worth.

A statistic that I would really like to know is what is the percentage of people paying from their own pocket for their ticket are actually flying in business or first . I know a lot of people travelling in business but NONE of them are doing it for leisure with the exception of having enough miles to do it which takes a lot of time to get enough of them .

The profit comes from making seats a living hell

If you adjust airline fares for inflation
...the premium economy fares today are pretty much what you would expect economy to have increased to today compared to the 80s / 90s.

So the way to think about it is that product from back then still exists and costs something similar...it is just branded differently.

If you adjust for inflation from the 70s the economy airfares actually equate to business today...but thats not a fair comparison because you are comparing regulated vs unregulated markets.

But the PE today to Economy 30 years ago is fair from a pricing standpoint. Even with the profitablity of PE.

Every since EVA introduced the PE product, followed by Virgin Atlanticā€¦this info was always known internally by the airlines. And that goes back to the 90ā€™sā€¦

Premium economy was great on my trip from the U.S. to Ireland. Super long flight that wouldā€™ve been very uncomfortable in economy, but the business/first class tickets were just way too expensive. It really was a perfect sweet spot

Premium Economy has been a sweetspot. Currently it's rediculously expensive, even more than some business classes. Stands in no realtion for the little extras you're getting with it

I have flown PE many times but just on Airfrance. Expectations: Priority bag, better food and better seat. Reality: lost bags, bad food but good seats. Not many European airlines are flying to Cuba so I am kinda stuck

On my flight from LAX to GIG (Rio Brazil) I bought premium economy through American Airlines round trip because of the added second suitcase, included alcohol, and better choice of seats. Just choosing the seats I wanted would have cost $300 more if I didn't opt for a premium economy upgrade. So for me it was worth the added cost of 25% over economy.
