There ain't no clamp strong enough to withstand this force. The sandingpaper would always tilt. You need to drill at least 2 holes for 2 screws with bolts to fix this thing in place.

An angle grinder is the most dangerous tool of all, imhp. Doing what youve done especially with only ONE clamp is exceptionally dangerous because of the kickback and because you cant turn it off quickly enough.
