“Things like filing down the nut channel under the locking nut to lower the action at the first fret, or shimming the locking nut to raise the action at the 1st fret. And also for leveling/recrowning/polishing frets, and/or clamping and gluing loose frets if necessary.
Occasionally it may also be helpful when removing pickguards to work on wiring and more, or shimming a neck pocket, though usually for non-setup related things I'll just loosen the locking nut and strings. But being able to get away with loosening the strings with the bar is certainly more convenient whenever possible when it comes to repair work or more detailed setup work.
The Red Bishop Accu-Locator is my favorite tool for adjusting Floyd intonation. Works great. Mostly for the divebomb position I think of maintenance and repair work. Dialing in the 1st fret action is probably the most obvious example, where you need to consistently go back and forth between a full setup tuned to pitch to make sure the string clearance is exactly where you want it.” [copied from my iPhone]

I would just put the backplate and wrap it with a soft cloth and call it a day
