IIRC at the time he was on Unite and his teammates were under 18 so were not eligible to play at champs. I doubt he was expecting to go far in the tourney without the team he'd been playing with all year so he did the EU lads a favour, which was probably a big factor in those guys then making a name for themselves on the international scene as Epsilon. Shane and Tommey have had pretty great careers ever since
Given the fact that Clayster has since won three rings I doubt he regrets that decision at all

He's misremembering. The first bo2 MLG LAN qualified the top 8 teams that werent qualified thru league play Clay placed 2nd for the spot and his teammates were underaged (spacely slacked and Huhdle). S/O Aches for the real passion of placing t8 at the lan and having already qualified thru league play. Also if im not mistaken Doug placed like top 40 in open that event.

Now all these years later and clay is considered a top 5 all time COD player with 3 world championships + multiple major event wins and Doug is the laughing stock of the entire community. Makes you wonder if clay made the right choice here
