Absolutely agree.
There are many valuable techniques from Judo that you can incorporate into Jiu Jitsu. Especially the takedowns from Judo are fantastic. And as this gentleman says, you can also do Muay Thai to become a more allround fighter. I would also recommend some weapons based system like Kali or Silat. Combine all these and you could even beat Captain America.

I think this is a great idea. I train both and got my judo blue belt the day before I got my BJJ purple belt. For one glorious day I was the bluest of blue belts. I think you can see the difference in skill with the people who dual train too. It’ll only be a matter of time before there’s a critical mass of dual black belts and hybrid clubs become the norm

My gym has two old school judo black belts not affiliated with the us judo system so they are really legit, and they know all the now illegal leg grabs, and one of them likes sambo too, which makes them even more legit. The only minor problem is they don't know what is legal or illegal in bjj so sometimes they teach us illegal reaps or subs we can't use. Honestly the judo instruction is the single best thing about my gym. I wish they had more classes and I wish I could absorb more. But they are awesome and judo is awesome, and I hate to admit it but I love judo even more than bjj. But I really love bjj, if I had a choice I'd rather do that every day. But it's necessary to learn this standup stuff. I love judo because it's so beautiful but I want to do more bjj to learn that art.
I will almost certainly never have a gym. But I would love to run a gym just like he said, where the two skills develop hand in hand.

Totally agree. But I used to go to the dual gym and unfortunately they didn't seem to close the gap between Judo and BJJ in stand up and transitions, so the coach would compare the two only when it came to newaza rules. So the next step is to bring them together in the mindset of those who can teach.

I always had this mentality. I started both around the same time but got my Shodan before BJJ black obviously. I have a student now who’s double brown, and will probably get both his Judo & BJJ black belts together. I preach the double black goal, but unfortunately most people fall in love with one or the other and stick to it.

i definitely agree with this one. both are just so good together and lack a big part just on their own
