I miss when only some multiplayer games were competitive, I feel like some games that shouldn't be competitive are, especially when the developers only listen to the competitive players. Like a big example being Halo Infinite, they removed so many of the things that made Halo fun for the sake of making the game more balanced. Not everything needs to be competitive, just make it fun.

I have an Xbox and sometimes I feel like playing different games on that day but because of game file sizes my xbox can only have 2 or 3 games downloaded at a time. So if I am in the mood to play a game that I don't have downloaded right now It is a 2.5 hour set up time to to get to where I can play that game and at that point my free time is up and I may not want to play that game anymore.

the one thing i really hate about PC games is that the dev studios parent company will starve them of the resources they need to optimize the game properly, and they can just point the finger at the consumer for not having a good enough graphics card or whatever, when the game just objectively doesn't need to use that much processing power, they've just chronically underfunded that part of development, it's a huge waste of electricity and unnecessarily pressures people to upgrade their electronics when their older PCs 100% SHOULD be able to play that game.
that's also why i think it's mutually beneficial to have consoles existing as a thing, a cheap set of very standardized hardware, so that you can actually tell the developers failed to make the game run properly on the machine it was designed for, and like, anyone with a gaming PC is likely going to have better hardware than an xbox, so if they release it for xbox they have to optimize their game.
fortunately, microsoft owning xbox means there's a shared architecture between the xboxes and windows machines, it makes porting those optimizations back to the PC version significantly easier.
this is what happened to hollow knight, it's a 2D sidescroller, there was no reason it needed to use the resources it used when it first came out. then they got a grant from nintendo to outsource the optimization of the game to another company to get it to run on a nintendo switch. they did it, then they released the lifeblood update on all platforms, basically bringing that whole re-write of that game back onto the other platforms, significantly improving performance for everyone.
now you can play hollow knight on basically any PC, and it's all thanks to the nintendo switch sucking ass.
that's why i really hope consoles never go away, I don't want ubisoft to tell everyone that their games not running properly is actually your fault for not having a 4090, but that's the world we would be in if consoles didn't exist. "optimizing" a company by saving all the costs you can possibly remove is just an inherent feature of capitalism, and consoles are basically the only natural check on that tendency in the context of video games. not being able to sell your game to the millions of people who have an xbox is a massive opportunity cost that changes "making your game run properly" from a small PR dilemma to an absolutely mandatory expense for market success. that's dope, i hope consoles never go away, it's super useful to have a huge body of consumers locked into a standardized set of hardware, it gives a powerful economic incentive to not suck, and that's the only kind of incentive a corporation will respond to.

Single player games having a mandatory internet connection is bar far one of the biggest issues. At this point it’s just a method for companies to ensure people can’t play their old games when their servers shut down. Vile behaviour. Something needs to be done about the current state of gaming and it’s preservation

personally? big names. GTA 6 could (and probably will be) THE worst game ever made but it'll still sell a billion units and there'll be a horde of smooth brained individuals that think game look pretty = game good
like, we've all seen starfield, we all can agree it sucked, but Bethesda already had a stained name, if R* were to release an nft scam with the GTA ip it would suddenly be a masterpiece despite being barely classified as a videogame

I would fix the stain that has become fortnite, fortnite is an amazing game, fun(sometimes) guves people a chance to show off their creativeness, but that game made the gaming industry take a turn for the worst, with this expectation that games have to have a battlepass and pay to win skins, it made games like siege no longer feel like tactical shooters.
