We glue Teflon a bunch in aviation. Use a hi-sol adhesive.

If you have it, RemOil is amazing. It is a weapon oil that has teflon in it as well. I clean my table saw top with soap and water then spray that on a few times. Works great

Super cheap alternative would be to wrap an insert in Teflon tape (plumbers' seal tape), and you'd have to renew it frequently... cool that you have a solid piece!

That's probably the best solution, but you can also use graphite powder, which works pretty good.

Also Delrin/acetyl is a fantastic non stick slippery plastic similar to teflon but harder, also machines very nice like teflon or wax. Cannot be glued easily hence screws or fitments as seen In video, super glue tips are usually made from teflon.
Remember aluminum has an oxide layer called aluminum oxide which is a crystalline structure. It looks like honeycomb🐝 under a microscope which can be filled with dye instead of honey giving those anodized colors.
Anodizing literally grows that oxide layer faster and thicker "controlled" than raw aluminum when exposed to the atmosphere. You can hear it "crush" if you try and scratch it. It's very thin. It is what some sandpaper grits are made of. Very hard.
When two pieces of aluminum slide against each other it's the oxide "grinding" itself like sanding sandpaper with sandpaper. You could also try steel or brass shim stock however that may gall on the aluminum without oil/grease/wax hence the self lubricating properties of teflon/Delrin. Neat

I love the tip! I don’t have any teflon however I do have a lot of various plastics. You’ve inspired me by creating something better than I’ve imagined. Now I will make what I’ve imagined.

Thats a great solution and well deployed. Congrats. Uuummmm about your plane and... its little coating.... of... RUST!!!! Seriously I'm at ptsd levels of denial. I mean, i have an old block plane for shaving paint off of things I want to referb. Please tell me thats your demo plane and that you have a pretty one somewhere. Im down for being a utilitarian in spirit, but you gotta draw a line somewhere. Is theft a problem where you live?

Aluminum is known to ablate terribly. Its the oxide layer that rubs off both pieces...
From what i have heard... You can do nuckle plated aluminum...

I just use some silicone spray on the plastic strips on the guide rail.
Then buff it of with a cloth.
That makes it really slippery.
Try it
