Acts 28:27-28

Based on the above verses, the opposite of "listening" is a calloused heart that lacks understanding.
I think it's safe to say Dr. White is failing to "listen" to what the verses in Jn. 6 are actually teaching.

Dr., I think the emphasis is on " Designs a certain meaning", and Dr. Flowers does not give correct exegesis to "they all". Only the precedent Verse gives clarity to it.

Dr. White didn't say not to read backwards. What he said was not to read a verse "assign a meaning" to that verse and then read that meaning into the previous verses.

What a ludicrous argument! Of course the speaker will make a statement and then add something in the next sentence for clarification or further information. Dr White can appeal to the debate moderator to force his opponent to stay on a narrow debate topic but if he actually wants to understand the literal Word of God he had better keep listening while He keeps speaking.
