It's a different kind of game. It demands your attention and to be mindful. It's also a 3D metroidvania, but the roadblocks are enemies, so try to get a feel for when you are not welcome in an area yet to come back later.

You'll get the hang of it! so many different playstyles, so long as your having fun you're playing the game right. If you aren't having fun just remember to try switching something up. Don't give up, but take breaks if you have to so you don't get sick of an area or boss.

The trick is not to just run in head first with a combative mindset. If you're running in do it with the mindset of just trying to get to the end of the area (I.E. Sprint and weave around enemies). Take combat slower and try to focus one enemy at a time.

If it’s your first time playing soulsborne games I would have recommended playing dark souls 3 first, it teaches you how souls games work really well (as well as being the best souls game imo) so you can enjoy Elden ring to the fullest as it’s not the most beginner friendly
