The magnet should be placed on the minute needle instead of hour, so that it would stop within 3-4mins, and another drawback is that the weight of the magnet will slow down a bit the timing.

A digital timer using a microcontroller would have been far superior.

Dear friend, put two magnetic relays and two magnets, one on the hour and the other on the desired minute, and close the magnetic relays in series. In this way, when the hour hand reaches the desired hour and the minute hand reaches the desired minute, watering starts and does not continue for a long time. The plant will be damaged by your method.

Magnet is too heavy to move needle upward. Timer is ON for too much time for one pot Bad idea

Cara! Eu estáva com esse projeto, mas não tive tempo de fazer. Agora vejo este amigo com a mesma ideia. Meus parabéns

This is ok for YouTube video or demo. But in real time battery won't last for long and I think it won't last for one time use. You have used in hour. It will take maybe 10 mins to cross that place. By the time your motor will consume all the power from the battery.

All you need is a container and a thin tube or wick, but why make things simple when you can make things complicated, right?

Cũng hay với cây ngập nước. Thật ra đây là ý tưởng cho trò khác như đặt bomb chứ ko phải là tưới cây :(

Its good but, the top comment is right about putting the magnet on the minute hand instead of the hour hand, that way,the plant wont be drowning in water for an hour since it isnt healthy for plants to have water for an hour.

That is a lot of water for that poor plant. I agree to have the magnet (a smaller version) on the minute hand so the water flow can stop quicker. That magnet is going to abuse the movement mechamism, it is too big for that little motor to spin. It works, but it's like killing the clock movement. Anyway, not a bad idea.

The most basic version of a timeswitch... Used in many situations where automation at intervals is required, but more popularly in TIME BOMBS.

He just produced a simple, cheap and efficient way of creating a mechanical timer. He followed the number one rule KISS (keep it simple stupid.) The more complex something is doesn't mean its better, if someone can do the same thing with far less complexity its a clear winner. This takes way less energy and time than soldering together the circuitry for a battery powered microcontroller and programming the microcontroller. Yes, a microcontroller has it's obvious benefits like making this a smart digital pump that you can view all the history of the pump, create schedules for the pump, control it remotely, and more. But this is far less costly than a microcontroller and less time consuming. Overall, a really cool project. Nice show of resourcefulness and this very basic design of a mechanical timer switch.

Отличный способ залить цветы нахрен и убить их! Молодец. Часовая стрелка двигается очень медленно, вся банка опустеет. Лучше бы на микроконтроллере собрал поливалку, тогда бы проблем никаких не было

Great idea ❤ Use a smaller magnet, to reduce the amount of water time, otherwise it might overwater the plant. Also put the magnet in the minutes instead of the hour…
