Aluminum foil also works great to redirect/funnel various fluids when you're draining something that wants to hit a crossmember or something similar instead of the collection pan.

I promise, as a general contractor (GC) I use this instead of but a bunch of paint liners & pans. Quick and easy without cleaning at the end

I just used foil the other day, them new Ram trucks have the oil drain aimed at a cross frame support. Foil custom shaped funnel to the rescue.

Iโm a painter this is an old trick we use when not wanting to get paint on important things even big stuff.

That's why I got a roll of aluminum foil in the same drawer as my paint brushes. Its really versatile, you can quickly make a water proof container of a cardboard box, perfect for storing paintbrushes if you don't want to clean the between layers.
