Hi Abhijit. I was born in Kerala India, to a Christian family, and currently live in the US. My family's mythology claims we are decedent from Jews who converted to Christianity and then migrated to India. However, I took a DNA test which found 99% Indian DNA. My cousin says that the Portuguese subjugated/converted my ancestors and falsified the migration story. Was it a common practice among colonial powers to invent false origin stories?

Hi, I am a linguist who works with indigenous (adivasi) people of the arctic, who are some of the most carnivorous people on earth. However, even they do not eat only meat: historically, they would eat plants whenever they were available (in the summer months), and nowadays they eat even more plants, thanks to modern grocery stores. To sum up, it is wrong to say that our ancestors ate only meat, because there is no hunter-gatherer society in the world that eats only meat. This idea is a modern invention.

#AskAbhijit: what is your opinion on mercy killing (euthanasia)? Should it be legalised in a country like India, when there is a tremendous shortage of healthcare professionals and infrastructure?
Do you think the Central Govt can come up with appropriate laws to legalise it?
Would love to know your take on this issue.

75000 years it seems since we were vegetarians..WHAAAT..?..So disconnected from facts... Homo sapiens migrated out Africa and wud hav reached india only 70000 years ago. That was the first migration and after that how many waves of migration happened after that. These people think that this subcontinent was closed from all sides for 75000 years.
Vegetarianism came to the subcontinent only after Buddhism. Before that even the brahmins were open to non vegetarian diet. All were sitting belting non veg nicely. If not for Buddhism it would have just continued. And who said our natural adaptation is vegetarian diet.

Basically Omnivore diet os what humans are meant to follow for the very survival purpose, vegetarian diet works well now simply coz their is a greater availability of food and nutrition options and varieties, in future vegan diet also works a bit but not fully, maybe in the future when food availability becomes very easy. Carnivore diet can only a survivability necessity if you live in a vegetation less environment like cold/hot desert or sea faring, humans need necessary nutrients that only consuming meat can't help, i mean one can still survive in a vegetarian diet coz plants can offer a lot of nutrients both macro and micro and then you add dairy, but meat lacks many essetial micro nutrients.
