So yeah the gap between Pompei and caveman is a couple thousand years by itself.
Modern historians postulate that we went from caveman to modern times in 5 thousand years though. ๐๐๐
There are cities being uncovered right now that last were above water for example 12 thousand years ago. Cities the size of modern day Manhattan.

The worlds history is very rich and strange. And the oldest of it is definitely NOT in Europe but rather closer to the eqautors. There high civilization thrived during the ice age as well where the rest of the world fell into a cold dark age.
