One thing I do is look at the bathroom mirror, hug myself and tell myself "I love you". If I feel uncomfortable or rejecting when doing that, then I know something's off and I need to make myself happy more. I read somewhere from an astrologer this and he said that no meditating or praying would be beneficial to you if you can't love yourself first - because you'd be wasting your time. God also lives within our hearts space, so not loving yourself would be self-defeating. I contemplated this and it felt profound to me. It all made sense!
