This is a great example of an environment molding a child.

I remember back in the day when my father had a bad day, then everyone had a bad day in the household. It almost felt like it was forbidden to be in a good mood.

Anytime I hear someone say, โ€œwhat happened to my little girl?โ€ This. This is what happened. And you caused it.

My parents were always kind to us kids but they constantly bickered with each other. I definetly remember that feeling of "I have to be as nice and quiet as possible so that I won't make things any worse". I don't know how much it has contributed to my current anxiety and depression but that feeling of overwhelm and hypervigilance is definetly related to my childhood's emotions.

Schools have the same impact going from a safe environment to a bullying one.

All my mother did was scream at my father when I was a child.
All I remember of childhood is fear, hiding under beds with my dog....closing eyes, covering ears, tears, and blind terror.

Yes, my mother was the abusive parent. She abused my father verbally and would smash dishes on him.... serious.

I found out myself why I get angry so easily. It was because my mother kept scolding me and beating me even though I didn't even know what I ddi wrong.

I have a vivid memory at four years old of my parents yelling at each other in the driveway as they were going through a divorce. After that my sister and I only got to see my Dad every other weekend. We missed out on so much time with him and then he passed a few years ago when I was 27. Please donโ€™t do this to your children. I was always so envious of friends with a happy family under one roof. I wouldโ€™ve given anything to have that.

This is exactly what happened to me. I deal with severe anxiety and depression to this day over my parents trying to kill eachother everynight.

This is exactly how my brother was when he was about 10 to 12 years old he started to grow up in my family's household and he began to show no emotion and begin to act aggressive and reserved when people talk/talked to him๐Ÿ˜ข

Not only that but it destroys their nervous system and self esteem and makes the child hypervilignt too young. Children that grow up in homes like this mostly become people pleasers at the expensive of their own happiness and wellbeing.

This is good to see.

I grew up with a super negative mother. And a dad that ragged on everyone, what they did or didn't do. Then, he acted very friendly and outgoing to strangers.

Growing up in a world of plastic people.

Life became a real shock.

This just broke my heart. I'm actually in tears. I'm 57 now. I've had anger issues my entire life, never knew why. And, I've been through decades of therapy. I went to bed, to the sound of my parents arguing. I woke up, to the sound of my parents arguing. But, I will still get up and turn wrenches tomorrow.

It honestly makes me so sad that some parents donโ€™t know how easy it is to influence their kidsโ€™ happiness negatively by what they do around them๐Ÿ˜”
