Am I the only one who noticed that loads of wlw songs are about cheating on a boyfriend to be with a girl or trying to take a girl away from her boyfriend? Like seriously think about it though. I Kissed A Girl- Katy Perry, Girls like Girls- Haley Kioko, Boyfriend- Dove Cameron. Like, don't get me wrong, they're great songs, but I just think it's weird that some of the most well known wlw songs are still about men. Also, can someone recommend me some wlw songs that aren't like this pls?

There's a song called "I kissed a boy" by jude york which is the mlm version of "I kissed a girl" except its not only superficially kissing the same gender for attention. As a gay guy myself, that song gives me butterflies

I dont think its that much about getting a boy attention by kissing a girl, but more like a "straight" girl who's been straight all her live and only knew about straight couples cause that was the "norm", but got really interested in this girl that "helped" her discovering more about herself, even if she was still in a relationship with her boyfriend
Cause that kinda was MY journey to discover I wasn't straight
Except for the kissing or having a boyfriend part, I was single and was just into guy, but then at some point my heart fluttered at just the sight of some girls I saw here and there.... So yeah, that what I think

I love that version!! Iβve developed kind of a love/hate relationship with that song because itβs funky and fun but it doesnβt take queerness at eye level at all and I hate to be singing something so dismissive of sapphic interactions when they are * already * continuously dismissed by society in general.
