More than likely the expansion tank is shot, which is what really caused the relief valve to start dripping.

If the relief keeps dribbling check the expansion tank to make sure its not flooded

I am a commercial, hot water and steam boiler technician. Please make sure the expansion tank is OK and that the pressure reducing valve is not over feeding or maintaining excess pressure

How far down the relief valve discharge pipe was that build-up? And any idea how far down did it go?

ATTENTION - PRV Pops from over pressurization. That happens from and old expansion tank failure and or boiler fill valve. ALWAYS check boiler pressure with a water pressure gauge (NOT THE ONE ON BOILER. They get plug and give false pressure majority of the time) You are just replacing a part without fixing the problem in this video. HVAC Tech 30 years plus here and worked on to many boilers
