The more I see of the 2024 changes (for any class), the more I feel like I need a PHD to run a game. I do not know if I am alone here... but I often find myself longing for the "red box" days.

Wizards in 3.5 had access to all of the cantrips and could change them every time they prepared their spells. So whats the difference here? Very little new has been given to us for 5e and 5.5e, its mostly recycled info from previous versions.

A wizard studies and learns magic. They should be able to use any cantrip they have ever learned at any time, This "change" is bullsiht because neither the wizard before change nor the wizard after change is working the way an actual wizard should work. Once you learn something, you have access to it.

Not a bad change, honestly.
BG3 had a house rule where wizards can learn cantrips from scrolls. It added to the versatility a Wizard should have, but also kinda made the class more broken than it was.
This seems like a good middle ground.
