this is paralleled by hideaki anno's latest anime work, evangelion 3.0+1.0. formerly an otaku extraordinaire and a passionate voice of his craft, anno got a wife and suddenly went full boomer mode, blaming all the otaku for the problems he previously helped articulate and suggesting they should simply go outside and get a gf. truly, it is just what i'd expect from the master and his protege

Han is a genius and a preeminent voice of our time but he also says "silly philosopher things" that are fun to have a bit of a giggle at.
He starts Shanzai by claiming that Hegel said the Chinese were untrustworthy liars, before explaining that Chinese people have an entirely different conception of justice and truth, so therefore Hegel was mistaken and they are not untrustworthy.
He did a recent interview exhtoling the virtues of a slow life and decrying optimization, but is also a 60 something year old at the absolute peak of his chosen craft in prestige and output.
(I'll admit that one tweaked me a bit. Very zen-boomerism "try not to pull oneself up by one's bootstraps, for the bootstraps do not exist.)
Fantastic philosopher, obviously speaking on a different plane and grander scale, but pretty funny stuff nonetheless.
