Born in Denver, Colorado, Francesca Woodman is remembered for her haunting and introspective black-and-white photography. Often exploring themes of identity, the body, and femininity, her work is characterized by blurred figures, self-portraits, and surreal compositions that evoke a sense of fragility and transience. Though she produced a significant body of work in her short life, her photographs continue to resonate for their emotional depth and artistic innovation.โฃ
โฃ
One of her most notable series, House (1975-1976), captures Woodmanโs experimentation with self-portraiture in an abandoned house, where her body seems to merge with the decaying surroundings, creating a ghostly, ethereal effect. Her work often explored the liminal space between presence and absence, reality and imagination, using her own body as a primary subject.โฃ

One of her photos is on the companion book for a Manchester art exhibition titled Angels of Anarchy. Named after a work by Eileen Agar, Angel of Anarchy.
Many artists of Surrealism from 1930s-40s, all women who had their own view of the time.
Many I knew like Dora Maar & Lee Miller but dozens of new to me artists: Leonar Fini, Leonara Carrington, Dorothea Tanning, Remedios Varo, Mimi Parent, Penny Staling. Short biographies help. I've had that book out from library many times to show people.
I was working in NYC 1980-81 & wish I could have met her
