Other than a few minor books the Apocryphal books were the only āOld Testamentā books not quoted in the New Testament. The Books of the Bible werenāt āassembledā at any council, the early church used the 66 books we use today and the Apocryphal books were rejected, especially things like the gnostic gospels. Even the Catholic Church never said they were inspired until something like the 13th-15th century (some of it was due to Martin Luther) and were extremely controversial throughout history.
