I just watched the first two episodes of Alien earth and here’s my thoughts…

I don’t mind the story or the characters it follows, in fact, they’re doing a really good job at introducing a brand new concept to the franchise which is making the main location earth, while also keeping the lore of this reality in tact.

However, there’s something that I just really don’t like about the show… There are so many cross fades which is a style of video editing that I thought was long dead. I get that to many people it’s not a big deal, but I’m just not a big fan of cross fades I think they look outdated, silly, and often pretty cheesy. Especially when they had Sid the sloth fade in while Wendy is rewriting this robot to say a line from the movie to her brother.

Ice Age is a great franchise no doubt, but to me having characters from that movie just posing up out on nowhere just loses all suspense and distracts me from what’s really going on. The show has as of recording this 87% rotten tomato score. I mean the show as a whole is very well done, but those cross fades are just goofy. The only time I wanna see cross fades like that is in a comedy because it got me chuckling.

I loved the gore though.
